ONESTX (Olavide Neuron STX SL)

ONESTX is a biotechnology-based company, founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the Pablo Olavide University (Seville, Spain) and dedicated to the development of drugs to treat neurodegenerative diseases. ONESTX aims to bring a largely awaited solution to painful untreatable diseases related to neurodegeneration, gathering an enthusiastic group of talented researchers and biotechnological development experts. The background of this start-up company was inspired by a research project carried out at the University Pablo de Olavide (UPO) in Seville (Spain). They discovered a new mechanism for increasing life span and improving memory in animal models, C. elegans and old mice, by increasing the level of certain neurosteroids. Furthermore, in models of neurodegenerative diseases (like Alzheimer’s disease) an improvement in cognitive disorders was observed.
