Ongaha is a high performing family-owned farming business, located 10 minutes west of Martinborough and 16km south of Greytown in South Wairarapa. Owned and operated by Shane & Lynnette McManaway with an overriding emphasis on balancing their three business priorities: Production, Efficiency, and Fun. The farm is a single historic block totalling 586ha (523ha effective). The farm has impressive infrastructure which has recently (2023) undergone a significant investment programme including woolshed refurbishment, new satellite yards, upgraded reticulated water system, overhaul of 5 pivot irrigators, 40km+ of new 8wire fencing, and 65,000 new natives planted in partnership with Wellington Regional Council. The farm and business recently achieve NZFAP Plus status demonstrating the owners’ commitment to the highest standards of animal husbandry, care for the team and engagement with the community, and to treating the land as if you want to farm forever.
