In many ways, OnLive! was ahead if its time. The company developed a 3D virtual world with immersive multi-user voice over IP technology. In 1994 that was quite a technological achievement. The software was used by ABC Television and MTV, and to this day there are still OnLive virtual worlds in use. The company also developed LiveList, one of the earliest instant messenger clients on the internet. The company was sold to Communities.com in 1998.
