ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL), a private joint venture company was incorporated in year 2006, by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), with 26 per cent and 5 per cent stakes respectively. Later, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) also acquired a 19 per cent stake in OPaL. ONGC promoted Petrochemicals Company inks MoU with Torrent to supply 350-400 MW Power at Dahej ONGC Petro-additions Limited (OPaL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat-based Torrent Energy Limited, for supply of bulk power by Torrent to ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. (OPaL). ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. (OPaL) has been promoted by Oil & Gas major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) to set up a Petrochemicals Complex at Dahej in Gujarat. Government of Gujarat has already designated Torrent Power Limited as co-developer for generation & distribution of Power in Dahej SEZ and Torrent Power has incorporated Torrent Energy to implement a 1500 MW LNG/Gas-based power plant. Torrent Energy will set up a Gas-based power plant at Dahej Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) in first phase of the project to be commissioned by 2011-12. As per the MoU, Torrent will provide OPaL with sustained power supply, in synchronization with OPaL’s planned commissioning of its Petrochemicals Complex.
