Open Arms

Through an annual fundraiser event, Open Arms has raised over $150,000 to support refugees in Canada fleeing global conflict. In previous years, Open Arms has supported the IDRF to assist in resettling Afghan refugees, the Ivey Business School's Academic Shelter Fund, to support Ukrainian students, and most recently, Haven, who is using technology to improve the refugee resettlement process. Last year, Haven used the funds to develop and launch an English language program for newcomers. The program has been immensely successful - 200 people have completed the 20 week course and our tailored approach has made it 3x faster and 2x cheaper than government-funded classes to improve a refugee's English level. Open Arms is looking forward to continuing to support the Haven language program in 2024 and beyond.
