Open Democracy is a non-profit organization founded in 2024 and based in Evanston, IL. It was developed by leaders and participants of the highly successful Participatory Budgeting Evanston initiative that took place from 2022 to 2023. Open Democracy aims to build on the momentum of that initiative to involve community members in participating in civic action and to build a participatory, inclusive, transparent, and deliberative democracy.
