OpenFLaaS

When it comes to the digitization of corporate knowledge, classic industry in Germany and Europe is faced with the dilemma of wanting to participate in the associated increases in productivity without having to reveal its knowledge, which is contained in billions of documents. Intelligent document analysis (IDA) enables efficient digitization, but there is a high risk of knowledge leakage and the associated loss of competitiveness if data sovereignty is lost. This risk exists above all with a transfer to the cloud and primarily keeps conservative industries from using IDA. The aim of the OpenFLaaS (Open Federated Learning as a Service) project is to resolve this dilemma and create a cloud-edge continuum for intelligent document analysis. Via an OpenFLaaS platform, AI is enabled on heterogeneous edge devices without moving data to the cloud, while AI is continuously improved via the global IDA cloud.
