Opening the Future: A Funding Model for Equitable, Sustainable Open Access Books.
We’re reshaping how knowledge is disseminated and accessed by investing the collective contributions of academic libraries worldwide, funnelling them into creating a perpetually open global collection.
For a modest annual fee, libraries gets DRM-free, unlimited access to a selection of a publisher's backlist, with perpetual access after three years. The membership/subscription revenue is used by the publisher solely to produce new OA monographs, moving towards an affordable, sustainable model for academic publishing free from BPCs.

Opening the Future is part of Copim Open Book Futures, a £5.8m research project funded by the Research England Development (RED) Fund and Arcadia, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin, which aims to initiate a step-change in the ambition, scope and impact of community-led Open Access book publishing.
