OpenOffice Arts+Architecture Collaborative

OpenOffice is a platform for art and architecture based in New York. The firm engages in associations with architects, artists, designers, programmers, curators, writers and innovators to create architecture without prescribed boundaries. The name OpenOffice declares the organization's commitment to a design process of open exchange that has the potential to expand architecture’s sphere of influence by incorporating ideas and working methods being developed in other fields. OpenOffice is directed by principals Lyn Rice and Galia Solomonoff with collaborators varying on a project-by-project basis. OpenOffice projects range from a large contemporary art museum, to exhibitions, public art projects, master planning, retail branding/prototyping, academic buildings, offices, and private houses. OpenOffice’s primary objective is to enhance the relationship of architecture with other disciplines and to engage the public through innovation in program, building technology, and form. OpenOffice has been nationally recognized by Architectural Record as part of their Design Vanguard, by The Architectural League of New York as one of architecture’s Emerging Voices, and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
