OpenRoad is creating a modular, low-cost smart battery and software platform to bring true Level 3 DC fast-charging (150 kW+) to "grid edge" locations where this is currently impossible, as well as portable applications in the field, using a proprietary system of high-voltage packs with cutting-edge power electronics. All hardware is integrated via IoT with the OpenRoad software platform, providing charging cost optimization and time-shifting, demand response, and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capabilities, with 2-second response latency. Our technology will enable, for the first time, the deployment of high-speed EV charging infrastructure on legacy electrical circuitry — particularly in underserved urban neighborhoods and rural areas. Our platform integrates a novel battery bank design with proprietary and cutting-edge DC fast-charging hardware, and is both modular and portable in ways not previously possible.
