The OpenSci preprint-server is a joint BMBF-funded project that leverages Web3 technologies to transform scientific publishing. As a decentralized platform, we intend to combine a preprint server with AI-driven peer review and a transparent evaluation system. Unique features include tokenized versions of scientific articles linked with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), a marketplace for manuscript exchange, and an AI-based system for reviewer selection and automated metadata extraction from manuscripts, reducing authors' workload. As a joint project between the University of Bremen, the HS Mittweida and tokenforge GmbH this research project aims to foster a more open, collaborative, and cost-effective system for scholarly publishing, revolutionizing how scientific knowledge is shared and accessed.
