Opera s.u.r.l. is a company specialised in the implementation of projects funded by the European Commission. We are specialized in projects organized under the EU “Better Training for Safer Food” initiative (BTSF) and EuropeAid international cooperation projects, both in the field of animal health and food safety. BTSF projects awarded to the consortium led by Opera and addressed to EU Member States and neighbouring countries include training activities on Food Hygiene and Flexibility, Preparedness and Management of Foodborne Outbreaks, and trainings to strengthen EU law enforcement in Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) fields. Activities outside the EU (BTSF world) consisted in two projects aimed at strengthening animal health and welfare in Africa and ENP countries and in Latin America and capacity building training courses for non-EU countries to participate actively in the work of International Standard-Setting Bodies (Codex/IPPC/OIE). As concerns technical assistance projects, OPERA is currently running (as lead company) two projects in Kosovo (food safety) and Northern part of Cyprus (animal health). Previous projects concluded in the last few years include strengthening of Veterinary Services of countries such as Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and others. Of a certain pride is the project for DG SANTE denominated “Support for the control/eradication of animal disease in Western Balkans” awarded to OPERA (lead company), concluded in 2013. The company has built up its experience operating closely abreast to Italian Central Veterinary Services (Ministry of Health) in the field of international cooperation and has supported their activities in 11 twinning projects since 2001. OPERA boasts a good experience in organising and delivering trainings and has achieved ISO 9000-2008 accreditation in the sectors EA37 and EA35 (project management and training).
