Operational Medicine

Welcome to the Operational Medicine (OPMED) page! This is a companion to the OPMED Blog, OPMED Facebook Group, and the OPMED YouTube Channel. The intent of this page is to share information and engage in discussions related to operational medicine. OPMED or operational medicine is any healthcare activity which takes place outside of conventional health care systems or in environments which place restrictions on the availability of resources. The types of medicine commonly associated with OPMED include prehospital care, tactical casualty care, and wilderness medicine. However, OPMED also includes aviation, disaster, event, retrieval, shipborne, space, and travel medicine. OPMED is good medicine in bad places. Although much of operational medicine takes place in a military context, readership here is not limited to military or government agencies. Anyone with an interest in remote or austere medicine will find something of interest here.
