Optipharma was founded in 2003 by Andreas Kefalas (an entrepreneur from Germany), along with Jim Burns and Gary Ricker (entrepreneurs from the USA), aiming to introduce ready-made reading glasses to the Greek market—a product virtually unknown in the country at the time. Our vision was to provide consumers with immediate access to quality glasses through pharmacies at an affordable price.
Over the years, Optipharma developed Readers by SmartVision-USA, a product line adapted to the unique characteristics of the Greek market and our commitment to superior quality through the latest technologies and materials. We are proud of the many innovations (some of them global) we have incorporated into our products. Optipharma was the first to incorporate hypoallergenic silicone nose pads, aspheric lenses, CR39 lenses with thinning and hard coating, accurate pupil distance, and many other features into ready-made reading glasses.
Optipharma chose to stay exclusively focused on optical pharmacy products, evolving into the most specialized company in the sector. Our deep knowledge and experience allow us to offer unique products. Our collections include various types of reading glasses and polarized UV400 sunglasses for adults and children, leveraging cutting-edge quality technology.
Today, the company is led by Andreas Kefalas (one of the original founders) and Antonis Chatoupis (co-owner and former executive at multinational corporations). The American shareholders' stakes have been acquired, and the company continues to innovate both in products and business practices. To better serve our clients and enhance their effectiveness, we have created the first exclusive B2B e-shop for the wholesale of optical products to pharmacies. This new tool allows us to save costs and return them to our customers in the form of substantial discounts, boosting both their efficiency and profitability.
