Optoelectronics Research Center

Optoelectronics Research Center (ORC), is Iran’s center of excellence for research, innovation and training in photonics and optoelectronics, which today represents a 0.5 Trillion$ global industry. Our area of research, spanning from photonics theory right through to materials, devices and system development, enabled through our in-house laboratories and facilities at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). Our vision is powered by integration of multidisciplinary research in material science, new photonics technologies, and related applications. Our research strategy is devised on long-term goals with a high potential for societal impact, transcending borders from fundamental science all the way to entrepreneurship. We try to work closely with industry partners to develop their next-generation products, across high-growth technology sectors such as MedTech, AgriTech and ICT, supporting their attraction to and growth in Iran. These topics are aligned with global trends that place photonics as a key-enabling technology for solving global problems, for example, related to solar energy generation, environmental monitoring and climate change, or new methods for medical diagnosis and treatments. In addition, we commercialize our disruptive technologies through start-up companies and co-ordinate the @ExciTech Co. platform.
