OPUS Music CIC

OPUS Music is a Community Interest Company, specialising in taking music-making into healthcare settings to the benefit of the patients, their visitors and staff. OPUS’ exemplary practice has placed the organisation at the centre of this developing practice in the UK. OPUS currently delivers weekly music-making in Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Kings Mill Hospitals. OPUS works in neonatal intensive care, children’s wards and specialist units (including oncology and neurology) and in older people’s wards (including specialist dementia and stroke care units). OPUS is also developing a new strand of practice in CAMHS settings (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). Through its acclaimed training and apprenticeship programmes, OPUS has supported the development of new practices in, amongst others, Great Ormond Street and Alder Hey Children’s Hospitals. OPUS has also been central to the development of a National Alliance for Musicians in Healthcare, working to dovetail this practice into the broader NHS offer.
