ORIGINS

ORIGINS is the largest study of its kind in Australia, following 10,000 children, from their time in the womb, and into early childhood, to improve child and adult health. ORIGINS' goal is to discover how a child's early environment influences the dramatically rising risk of chronic health conditions such as allergies, obesity, respiratory and mental health issues including neuro-developmental challenges. Through biological sample collection, detailed questionnaires, and routinely collected medical information, ORIGINS is creating a Biobank and Databank to provide researchers access to unique longitudinal data for studies that promote a healthy start to life for lifelong wellbeing and community flourishing. A collaboration between The Kids Research Institute Australia and Joondalup Health Campus, ORIGINS has over 70 nested observational and interventional sub-projects under the following research domains: · Allergy, Inflammation & Immunity · Brain & Behaviour · Growth & Development · Nutrition & Metabolism · Environment & Lifestyle · Mental Health & Wellbeing · Microbiome · Parenting · Oral Health Currently, the ORIGINS Data Catalogue has over 400,000 biological samples and 16 million data points available for collaboration with researchers.
