We believe that modeling & simulation in computational medicine can complement clinical decision making for the appropriate design and manufacture of prosthetic sockets for amputees. Orto Algorytmics is implementing the AI powered tool that combines residuum shape, soft tissue compliance, finite element analysis and prosthetic socket design to optimise load transfer between the residual limb and mechanical limb, by customisation to the user.
Significant advantages of the new solutions over the currently used methods:
- shorten the manufacturing time of the lower limb prosthesis prosthesis socket and its components (probably eliminating the need to prepare test sockets);
- allows collecting information about the patient's stump in a digital way;
- reduces production costs;
- allows to evaluate the prosthesis socket shape before the final product is made.
