Orwell & Browne is an award winning Irish heritage brand created by Catriona Mc Ginley. The craft of weaving tweed fabric has been a tradition in the Mc Ginley family for the past three generations. Orwell & Browne products are designed and made in Ireland using locally sourced Donegal Tweed. Donegal Tweed is traditionally a handwoven wool fabric characterised by its distinctive flecks of colour, manufactured in Co. Donegal, Ireland. The history, techniques and expertise in transforming sheep’s wool into luxurious cloth is a tradition that has been passed down through the generations. The artistry of Donegal Tweed reflects its primary source of inspiration – the natural beauty surrounding the makers. Donegal has had a strong weaving tradition for centuries and remains the heartland of our national cloth. We are proud to work with the best mills and weavers Ireland has to offer.
