OSeMOSYS

OSeMOSYS is the open-source energy modeling system. It has is used by national analysts to develop: policy [1], national communications [2] and mobilize billions of USD$ in financing [3]. It is maintained by a community that includes representatives from the UN, IEA, KTH, Imperial College London, University College London, Simon Fraser University, Politechnico de Milano, University of Costa Rica, TU Berlin, L'boro and others. It is used by leading consultancies, such as Vivid Economics. It is accessible to analysts, requires no specialist programming skills to get started, and meets U4RIA goals [4]. It is used in teaching at leading universities. It features in the world's leading journal Science [5]. And, has been used to support analytics in several Nature Journal articles [6], including the world's first open-source global energy model generator [7]. It has a free graphical user-interface; online courses that you can adopt as needed [8] and 'starter-data-kits' [9] which can be replicated and improved [10]. It is used with other tools in the OpTIMUS.community ecosystem, including the IRENAFlexTool to evaluate deep integration of renewables in power systems. The original paper is here [11].
