About OSIRIS Interreg BSR
The European Silver Economy is the part of the economy that concerns Europe’s older citizens. It includes all the economic activities relevant to the needs of older adults, and the impact on many sectors. The Silver Economy is closely linked to current trends in Europe’s demographics, and the effects on older adults’ quality of life and on the wider European economy. Demographic change is a phenomenon that has a major impact over Baltic Sea countries. It is estimated that by 2025 the healthcare costs will double and budgetary pressure on health budgets will be huge. Dependency ratio for people over 60 years in Baltic countries will advance for 25 % to 50 % by 2025 and family members will be the most affected with impact over their productivity, wealth and job availability. Project consortium is formed of 13 direct partners from Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia. The silver economy related to products and services aiming at the elderly creates considerable business opportunities. The OSIRIS project designs an innovative cooperation model to improve smart specialisation approaches and market uptake of innovative products and services dedicated to the elderly, e.g. in the health sector. Smart Silver Labs in five regions around the Baltic Sea support innovation actors in generating new silver products and services viable to the market. The project sets up a digital hub to ensure exchange of new knowledge and business schemes across the borders. Find out more: https://projects.interreg-baltic.eu/projects/osiris-188.html
