OSU-NU SAFE is an exciting initiative to enhance food security, support local livelihoods, contribute to the Feed Salone agenda, and promote sustainable aquaculture across Sierra Leone. The OSU-NU Sustainable Agriculture for Food Empowerment project, supported by the Milburn Foundation, is a dynamic collaboration between Njala University and Oklahoma State University aimed at producing 30 tons of fish annually over the next five years. Beyond improving access to affordable protein in underserved communities, this project offers hands-on research opportunities, empowers local students and farmers, and lays the foundation for a thriving, commercial-scale fish farming industry in the region.
