Othakarhaka - Passing on the kindness

Othakarhaka Foundation is a Malawian nonprofit committed to eliminating community barriers to girls’ education. Othakarhaka in Chichewa means “passing on the kindness,” which is the model for how we operate, and has become a way of life for OTK beneficiaries and volunteers. Powered by a network of 6,700 volunteers, our programs empower communities to change the commonly-held belief that a “girl is just a girl.” We partner with communities and village chiefs to end forced child marriages, provide educational scholarships, healthcare access, gender-equality programming, sustainable agriculture support, and agroforestry resources. We strive to extend the same kindness we receive everyday, uplifting lives and creating brighter futures
