Our Hawai'i

Our Hawai‘i Action is building a movement to create a Hawai‘i that puts kama‘āina and kānaka maoli — not big money interests — first. Grounded in our past, looking towards our future, and rooted in shared values of aloha, kuleana, and mālama pono, we educate, organize, advocate, and engage in elections to expose the corruption and complacency holding our islands back and advance an agenda to make Hawai‘i work for all of us, not just the wealthy few. For too long, Big Developers, Big Tourism, the Military and corrupt, do-nothing politicians have held back progress in our islands — prioritizing their profits and power over our values, our way of life, our communities, our history, and our culture. Every year they pad their pockets while it becomes harder and harder for most of us to make rent, buy a home, keep a job, feed our keiki, or even continue to live here at all. They want us to believe that what’s happening to our islands is inevitable, that this is just the way of the world in the 21st century. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Another Hawai‘i is possible, and within reach. We just have to seize it. It’s time for a new Hawai‘i. The old Hawai‘i. Our Hawai‘i. We are coming together — kūpuna and keiki, kamaʻāina and kānaka ‘oiwi, working families and the poor — to say, “ʻAʻole. Enough is enough.” We will have a say in the future of our islands. We demand a Hawai‘i for all of us, not just the wealthy few. In Our Hawai‘i, people have a say over what happens in our communities. In Our Hawai‘i, we care for and look out for each other. In Our Hawai‘i, landowners are stewards of the culture, the people, and the ʻāina. In Our Hawai‘i, the things we all grew up loving, the things that make our islands great, will be there for the next generation, and for generations to come.
