Outdoor Therapeutics is dedicated to improving mental wellness through clinical and wellness programs that realign connections between mind, body, and the natural world. We do this by integrating evidence-based therapy approaches with resources in nature that are scientifically proven to benefit human wellness, such as exposure to green space for nervous system stabilization. This dedication to returning humans to the wild results in comprehensive and unique offerings such as Nature-Integrated Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a proven effective therapy for trauma, and therapeutic backpacking trips grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Outdoor Therapeutics utilizes the natural world to the degree clients are comfortable, such as introducing plant care into office sessions, having a “walk and talk” session along the Monocacy River, or having an extended outdoor immersion focused on wildlife and the landscape as a source of metaphor, mirroring, and inspiration.
