Education is one of the strongest instruments to bring positive changes to society by alleviating poverty, improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. In recent years, the world has made significant investments in quantification and quality improvement of education. However, several challenges still exist today. Access to basic education continues to be a big challenge in low-income countries. In fact, 60 million youth and children are still out of school globally [ OUR WORLD OF DATA]. Although there are many reasons associated with this inability of the modern generation to be at school, what brings significant concern is the reflection of war and conflict followed by poverty and lack of infrastructure [UNESCO]. While after many years of hard work to improve the education system in low-income (developing) countries, the situation is still dire. It is now more compelling to think how the use of modern technology can benefit in overcoming some of the challenges. Maktab was started as an online education platform for the generation which no longer can go to school due to restrictions to education institutions or inaccessibility due to lack of infrastructure, transportation, and technology, along with other direct and indirect barriers. Taking a step forward, we are now launching Maktab to the global audience. With numerous evaluation systems and their varied curriculum, it is cumbersome for students who are either enrolling in a new educational system or switching between the different platforms, for example, GCSE in the U.K., I.B. in France, CBSE, ICSE and other regnal boards in India. After rigorous efforts in research and analysis of different education systems across the globe, Maktab understands subjective barriers and helps in setting up a solid foundation through imparting knowledge of fundamental topics, science and technologies.
