Ozotec EV

Ozotec is a technology-driven company founded in 2002 by Mr. K. Barathan. It initially gained success with the development of the Fixed Cellular Terminal (FCT), a device that enabled users to utilize the GSM network with their cable-operated phones, reducing monthly phone bills significantly. This innovation brought in good revenue for the company. In 2004, Ozotec recognized the need for technology in the textile industry and invented control panels and motors for textile industries, benefiting industrialists in the weaving sector. The Ministry of Textiles in India acknowledged the benefits of Ozotec's invention and provided a 50% subsidy through a scheme called "In-situ Upgradation of Plain Power Looms." Ozotec installed kits for over 100,000 units, resulting in a substantial turnover and propelling the company to new heights. Realizing the need for further expansion in 2018, Ozotec began researching and developing electric vehicles (EVs). After studying the market, they identified the two-wheeler segment, particularly the rural market, as having significant potential. In 2020, Ozotec launched their first EV called "Flio," designed for rugged commutes, with a range of over 120 km on a single charge and a load capacity of 300 kg. This vehicle garnered positive response, and Ozotec later introduced an improved version called "Flio+" with additional features such as a battery percentage display and Bluetooth connectivity. In 2021, Ozotec initiated pilot production with the goal of manufacturing 3,000 to 4,000 vehicles annually. The EVs were initially sold in five districts of Tamil Nadu, covering a 150 km radius. Ozotec achieved a turnover of $6,000,000 exclusively from EV sales, further establishing their presence in the EV industry.
