By engineering an advanced water filter into the traditional sari worn by women, PAANI emphasizes the importance of keeping cultural traditions, while advancing technology within developing communities. Recognizing that first-world solutions do not always work for developing countries, our device is simple, familiar and practical. PAANI aims to refine, not replace traditional water filtration methods throughout the slums of India by bridging the gap between new technology and the cultural day to day behaviors of our user.
