EVOLVING MEDICAL SOLUTIONS, INC., is a medical device startup in Lacey, Washington. By design, we are an innovation commercialization enterprise, with integrated research, development, & test capability. Inter-disciplinary by nature, we combine commercial expertise with academic excellence, across the Defense and Security, Energy, Health and Consumer sectors. Our technical networks bridge artificial intelligence, automated creativity, electronics, energy, materials, nano-technology and software. We invent and innovate in-house, foster high-potential technologies, and aggregate capabilities globally, to produce innovative, disruptive products that deliver more than the sum of their parts. By providing technical, executive, commercial and capital support, our Innovation-Exploitation Program enhances value proposition and reduces risk exposure, whilst developing creativity, flexibility and robustness. Our goal is for our ‘wrap around’ idea to patent to product approach to become recognized globally as a catalyst for successful innovation. We are bridging the challenging gap between ‘thinking’ and ‘doing’. We began working on a small portable device designed to circulate and oxygenate blood to substantially prolong the life of persons who have sustained severe traumatic injury. It was designed to increase survivability during transport to help the patient get to life saving surgery or at the very least to sustain organs to increase organ transplant viability. In the first week of March, the doctors on our advisory committee informed us that they no longer had any time to dedicate to this project as a new virus was now at pandemic proportions and they were overwhelmed with patients requiring all of their time. They challenged us to rethink our project into something that could help with this overwhelming outbreak. We rethought everything, and ECHO was born.
