The Palisadoes Foundation

The Palisadoes Initiative was conceived by the the Jamaica Diaspora Technology Task Force, a group of expatriate Jamaicans interested in assisting in the continued development new and existing technologies in Jamaica. Though the initial group are all US residents, participation is open to the general Jamaican diaspora, and those with an heart felt interest in Jamaica. There are many initiatives under consideration by the Task Force, with the Palisadoes Calico project being the first to be launched. Calico is intended to be a localized version of the Google Summer of Code. The aim is to offer students stipends over the course of a summer to contribute code to open source software projects used by both Jamaican companies and international companies interested in creating a vibrant globally recognized software development community on the island.
