Panels for Unguja

Panels for Unguja is a non-profit solar energy project which seeks to improve the livelihoods of rural families of Zanzibar by facilitating electrification using solar power. As of now, less than 2% of Tanzania's rural villages have access to electricity. Many rural families burn kerosene for light which is harmful to health in village homes with no ventilation. Access to light universally improves the quality of life. Installing solar panels allows for these villages to be autonomous and provide electricity for themselves for years to come. Since our start-up in April 2017, Panels for Unguja successfully provided full solar electricity systems for the residents of Minanasini Village, Zanzibar, Tanzania. We seek to continue this work throughout rural Zanzibar.
