Pangloss Cellars

Pangloss Cellars is a celebration of Sonoma and the diversity of grape varieties for which Sonoma is known. In addition to classics like Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the Pangloss portfolio also includes more unique offerings including Chenin Blanc, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and a variety of blends. Named after Dr. Pangloss, the eternal optimist in Voltaire’s novel Candide, Pangloss is dedicated to optimism as the ideal way to approach life. Located on the historic downtown Sonoma Plaza, our Tasting Lounge is an architectural showpiece and an integral part of Sonoma’s rich history. Our culinary program embraces Sonoma’s sustainable bounty from the Pacific Ocean to local farms and gardens. Pangloss Cellars is a carefully restored 122-year- old building on the town square in Sonoma where California was founded. Given our obsession with handcrafting wines using Old World techniques, our attraction to the old structure was natural and powerful. Bringing the building back to its original glory was a first step for us in forming a deep bond with our home. Supported by its centuries-old truss, the Tasting Lounge has an incredible view of the Sonoma Plaza and the Mayacamas Mountains in the distance through its 50-foot-wide glass storefront. The Tasting Lounge exudes the warmth and intimacy of a family living room. It is spacious with high ceilings and is centered by our tasting bar.
