The first stable version of the Pardus operating system, whose planning phase began in 2003, was released on December 27, 2005. PARDUS is a Free and Open Source operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux. Since 2017, it has been delivering major releases every two years, along with five minor updates per release.
The Pardus Operating System, developed under the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), is designed to be secure, high-performing, and cost-effective for public institutions and SMEs. It places importance on both functionality and visual appeal, with full support for the Turkish language.
