What is Parti Haus? Parti [pahr-tee] (noun) French architecture: short form of ‘parti pris’, meaning ‘decision taken’, used to represent the idea or concept driving an architectural design. Haus [hows] (noun) German 1. architecture: literal meaning of house or dwelling, can also mean theatre. 2. design: of relation to 'bauhaus', a modern design movement/school that bridged the gap between art & industry Parti Haus [pahr-tee hows] (noun) Compound architecture: a collaborative collection of similar minds. Based in New York, the group currently consists of four academics and professionals with interests and experience in the growth and projection of multiscalar design and operates within the disciplines of landscape design, architecture and urbanism. Rather, we choose celebrate its’ emotive and creative facets. Design needs to be pragmatic, but design should also be evocative and prioritize the human experience, regardless of the scale. Design should be flexible, adaptable and reflexive of the conditions in which it exists. Design should be both dynamic and yet react to changing social, cultural, economic, environmental and technological stimuli. Design should be literate. We are literate designer
