PATA! Is born.
Dynamite sister duo, Duygu & Gaye, are the collaborative forces behind PATA Art and
Design and are on a mission to introduce traditional and contemporary Turkish art and design to the rest of the world! Younger sister, Duygu, loves the juxtaposition of two unsuspecting opposites such as local and global or traditional and contemporary or even her sister and herself! In 2016 they took the plunge and established their own family company to promote local artists, illustrators, and designers to the global art scene and make their Turkish culture come alive in the homes and hearts of others who may never have visited the country.
Duygu, studied art history and theory in Edinburgh and leads the curatorial side of the biz while her big sis, Gaye, studied business management in Istanbul and handles all things business-y.

At PATA, you can find a collection of traditional art created with a contemporary approach by Turkish artists and illustrators. Whether it be the technique,
the material or the content, you can be sure to find a touch of ‘local love’ in every work. Each piece is unique and has its own story. You can learn about the artists/ illustrators and their individual techniques by viewing below the “item details” section. Remember, if you are interested in miniature painting, we encourage you to look carefully at the details of the work in order to grasp the ‘larger picture’ and enter the mysterious world of miniature painting.
