Pathways NL

Pathways NL is a web-based resource designed by physicians, for physicians. It acts as an “Information Bridge” by facilitating efficient referrals and supporting optimal patient care by providing information such as: consultants’ consultation requirements, consultants’ areas of practice and limitations, and referral wait times. The four provincial Family Practice Networks are rolling out Pathways NL provincially to all family physicians, medical office assistants, and consultants in the province. In addition to providing them with the information required to facilitate efficient referrals and support optimal patient care during the referral process, the rollout of Pathways NL will improve consultants’ satisfaction with referrals, improve the quality of communication and relationships between family physicians and consultants, and improve the patient experience and outcomes. Family Practice Networks: There are currently four Family Practice Networks in Newfoundland & Labrador; they are: Endeavor, Long Range, RE-Boot, and Shalloway. Each Family Practice Network is a not-for-profit corporation organizing and promoting the participation of physicians in their region in activities that ultimately improve the delivery of primary health care services.
