Post-16 and adult education consultancy services. Main areas of expertise include #ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), #literacy and #numeracy, along with education policy and advocacy, quality systems, workforce development, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Paul previously worked for over 25 years in a range of roles at City & Guilds, most of which involved looking after its ESOL, literacy and numeracy products and services. At various times he was responsible for: assessment production, standardising and awarding; qualification development; stakeholder and regulator liaison; product/portfolio management. Latterly, he worked directly with practitioners and provider organisations as a specialist Technical Advisor to support their delivery of programmes leading to City & Guilds qualifications in these subject areas. In 2023 Paul completed a MEd in Adult and Community Education, researching the experiences of ESOL practitioners in Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic. He's also Co-Chair of the National Association for Teaching English and other Community Languages to Adults (NATECLA), Board member of the North West Migrants Forum and Management Group member of Research and Practice in Adult Literacies (RaPAL). Based in Derry, Paul works educators and others throughout the islands of Ireland and Britain, and beyond.
