Paybill is a fintech company based in Kenya that provides software solutions that allows businesses of all sizes to securely accept payments and expand in Africa. Paybill is an acquirer that processes mobile money payments (mpesa, airtel, mtn), card-not-present and card present transactions via the api.paybill.dev endpoint. Paybill is considered a Level 3 Service Provider and facilitates payment transactions for customers via Paybill payment applications and integration methods via JavaScript, Paybill API, mobile SDKs, and terminal hardware for transactions. Additionally, Paybill's API service (api.paybill.dev) enables payment transactions for merchants and allows Paybill to manage the collection, processing of payments. Merchants are provided with a tokenized API service to process mobile money transactions. Merchants securely connect to Paybill by including a snippet of code in their back-end custom application. The API code allows the phone details details such as name, address, identification number that are collected to be transmitted securely via HTTPS using TLS to Paybill. Paybill vaults user details within a token vault database using strong encryption. For payment processing, user details (phone number) are sent outbound to Paybill’s third-party payment processing partners via dedicated IPSec VPN tunnels or site-to-site VPN connections, which are contingent on the partner. Post authorization, only the status of the payment transaction details and the token are stored in the databases for settlement processes. No Sensitive Authentication Data (SAD) is stored on any system components post authorization. In addition to payment processing, Paybill also enables Issuing services via Paybill Api.
