There are several companies that have api's to help with subscription billing services already on the web (Stripe, BrainTree, Etc). However, if you want to use them, you have to do a bunch of custom development to make sure you're fully integrated. PayWhirl makes it incredibly easy to create and manage recurring membership plans online. It removes the hard work necessary to code all the views that allow your subscribers to sign-up for memberships, create user accounts and manage customer subscriptions.
