PBSC UOttawa (Common)

The University of Ottawa's PBSC Chapter is the largest in Canada, dedicated to matching law students with pro bono legal opportunities. Our mission is to empower students to provide free legal assistance, promote access to justice, and make a meaningful impact in our community. Typical projects our students undertake include research, public legal education, and clinic intake, all completed under the supervision of a lawyer. These projects enable students to engage with real-world legal issues and support individuals and organizations that might not otherwise have access to legal services. Not only do law students create meaningful impacts in their community through their involvement in PBSC projects, but they also receive invaluable legal training while still in school. By working closely with supervising lawyers, students gain practical experience, develop essential legal skills, and build professional networks. This hands-on approach to legal education ensures that our students are well-prepared for their future careers while making a positive difference in the lives of those they assist.
