Plant-Based Universities, an Animal Rising campaign, began in 2021 at three universities: University College London, King’s College London, and the University of Warwick. The campaign has grown domestically and internationally - pushing for universities to take responsibility for their climate and food system research. The campaign calls for 100% plant-based catering, in line with university sustainability goals. To date, the campaign ahead seen major successes in Students’ Unions at nine UK universities and one in Austria, beginning in November 2022 at the University of Stirling. This was followed by Cambridge, Birmingham, Queen Mary University of London, London Metropolitan, University College London, Kent, Warwick, and Graz. The campaign has achieved mass media coverage in BBC News, ITV News, and a Guardian feature - whilst recently appearing on prime time breakfast show Good Morning Britain.
