Welcome to the PEADS Lab LinkedIn Page! The PEADS laboratory at the University of New Brunswick is one of the few labs in Canada that works with vulnerable populations such as pregnant women and infants/toddlers by exploring the effects of nutrition and physical activity on breastmilk and the gut microbiome in the context of obesity development and metabolic processes. 🤰🏻🍇🌡️ The PEADS laboratory is led by Dr. Maryam Kebbe. Dr. Kebbe is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick with >50 publications and >150 invited presentations. Dr. Kebbe completed a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from the University of Ottawa, an online Diploma in Human Nutrition, and a Doctorate in Medical Sciences from the University of Alberta’s Department of Pediatrics. She completed postdoctoral training in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford first, followed by the Reproductive Endocrinology and Women's Health Laboratory at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana. Dr. Kebbe is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and is certified with the Canadian Food Safety Group. She is a representative on the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) Canada committee, the Canadian Breastfeeding Research Network, and the CIHR MyRoad mentoring subcommittee.
