PeerCommerce promotes the uprising gig-economy in local communities and fosters student enterprise by effectively linking them with local firms and other students. It is similar to traditional labor marketplaces in that any user or organization can buy a freelance service, but these services will be primarily provided by current college students. PeerCommerce will use geolocating features to show services in local proximity to the user; differentiating us from our competitors, who only let users browse services worldwide. The problem with global-only browsing is that it is almost impossible for new sellers to compete with seasoned veterans from across the continent. We predict that by allowing users to connect with the peers and firms they already live, study, and work with, more will be encouraged and successful in pursuing project-based gig work.
