About Pelorus TMS

We are a TMS provider (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) with locations in Raritan NJ (near the Somerville Circle) and Cedar Knolls NJ (near Rt 10 and Rt 287). TMS is a unique non-medication therapy for Depression. TMS therapy uses precisely targeted magnetic pulses that stimulate key areas of the brain, which are underactive in patients with Depression. Treatment is delivered right in the doctor’s office. Patients are awake during treatment, and can go about their normal activities immediately after treatment is completed. Some advantages of TMS include: -FDA-cleared and proven -Not medication-based -Non-sedating -Non-invasive -Safe -Well tolerated (fewer than 5% of patients discontinue treatment due to adverse effects) -Covered by all major insurance providers -In-office treatments take about 25 minutes, and are administered 5 days/week, for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Matthew Barnas, MD, FAPA is our Medical Director and CEO, he has been practicing medicine for 17 years. Dr. Barnas completed his TMS training at Duke University. He is Board Certified in Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry, and completed his Geriatric training at Yale University. Dr. Barnas is also on the medical staff at both Overlook and Morristown Medical Centers. Additionally, he is appointed on the volunteer teaching faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at both Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
