In the 25 (almost!) years that PEM Friends has existed, it has developed into a thriving, warm and supportive organisation that is the only source of support for people with pemphigus or pemphigoid.
We became a charity on February 2024.
These rare, autoimmune blistering conditions can affect people of any age, but most people diagnosed are above 40 and many are elderly. We have many PEM Friends who join us to find help for elderly parents or spouses.
As well a providing support for people with pemphigus or pemphigoid who live in the UK, we also aim to raise awareness of these rare and very painful conditions, thereby reducing diagnosis times and the effectiveness of treatments.
We are run by a small group of committed volunteers.
