The Rogers family have been farming at Pengelly Barton Farm since 1967, originally as a 137-acre mixed/dairy farm growing potatoes & brassicas alongside a herd of Friesian dairy cattle. Run by father and son, Simon & Phil Rogers, today the business farms approximately 2,600 acres across Cornwall, including 1,400 acres of potatoes and 1,200 acres of maize, sugar beet and rye. Growing predominantly salad varieties, the farm is proud to harvest some of the first mainland potatoes in the UK – supplied to supermarkets and wholesale markets across the country, starting in mid-May each year. The farm is also home to one of Cornwall’s largest Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants, utilising home-grown energy crops and potato waste to produce biogas as fuel, generating electricity to supply the national grid. Our customer base is made up of local restaurants and wholesalers, as well as several of the UK’s leading supermarkets, with direct contracts to Morrisons and through buyers also to LIDL, ASDA, Tesco and Marks & Spencer.
