PEN is a non-profit organisation that has been working to uplift people living or working in the inner-city of Tshwane since 1992. Our vision is to partner with those we serve: “To Ignite Change, Nurture Individuals and Heal Communities”. We offer a holistic set of services to support people to overcome their current circumstances, restore their dignity and become self-supporting, well adapted, responsible members of society.
Our focus is on “most at risk population groups” including homeless men and women (together with those trapped in prostitution or living with addiction), vulnerable youth (aged 7-25) and preschoolers (aged 0-6) without access to suitable educational opportunities.
While PEN’s current focus is on the inner-city of Tshwane, once the continuous improvement process has reached a point where there is a significant rate of change within the target beneficiary group, the aim is to replicate social change models on a provincial and then national scale either directly through PEN or through partner organisations to increase the benefits for vulnerable population groups.
