Perry Consultancy provides bespoke IT services that underpins research activities spanning academia and NHS Scotland. The range of the services we provide are not limited to the original design of the system but also cover User Support Services, Computer Infrastructure for application hosting, data processing and large scale data storage to ensure the IT support provided underpins the functional requirements and goals of the research project. We also lecture to both students and medical professionals on the IT requirements for supporting medical research. This either takes the forms of presentin Some examples of the pioneering work includes: • Randomisation Services - Web based multi-centre, drug-stock controlled, double-blinded patient recruitment and treatment allocation using randomisation, stratification and minimisation methods • Systematic Image Review System (SIRS) - Secure online multi-user system for the viewing and reporting of DICOM medical imaging to support the primary outcome measures of several clinical trials and research projects. Covering both intra and inter rater reliability • Quality Assurance of Palliative Care Patient Intervention Sessions (SMARTyTube) - I developed a workflow whereby the videos of patient intervention sessions were automatically moved from the video cameras, converted to an alternative format that was more suitable for storage and streaming, securely transferred from around Scotland back to Edinburgh via SFTP, catalogued and registered within a database. Clinical Supervisors where then notified by email of new intervention session videos requiring QA viewing in a 'YouTube' style • eCRF - Electronic Case Reporting Form - I pioneered web based online systems to collect, validate and store data accurately and completely. I designed workflow paradigms to ensure that the online system knows what data to expect based on the research protocol and presents this to the users of the system in the form of to-do work lists.
