PharmaGuide Ltd was founded in Cambridge England as a training company in 2004 by Dr Ed Zanders, originally under the name ScienceInform. It offers the course ‘How the Drug Discovery Industry Works’ through the Oxford Biotechnology Network (OBN) to a range of clients from professionals with no scientific background up to PhD level scientists. Clients include university technology transfer managers, recruitment consultants, lawyers and investment managers. A similar course specialising in terminology for translators and interpreters is available directly from PharmaGuide. The ‘Presentation Skills for Scientists’ course is designed to help young scientists from academia and industry to improve their verbal communication at conferences and seminars. The emphasis is on the presentation of scientific data, so the it not only covers the skills required for public speaking but also provides detailed guidance on data presentation and other issues of concern to the practising scientist.
