The Czech Centre for Phenogenomics hosted by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CCP) is the only specialized place in the Czech Republic that creates genetically modified mouse and rat models, at the level of the world's best centres, while using the most advanced standardized phenotyping to characterize the gene functions in vivo. CCP provides a full spectrum of genetic engineering services including the generation of mouse models of disease, cryoarchiving and distribution. A key facility of CCP is the Phenotyping Module performing high throughput but standardized analysis capturing nearly 1000 unique parameters to each (or its mutation) gene analyzed.
CCP is developing preclinical testing procedures to support translation of the research into application, including PDX (Patient-Derived Tumor Xenograft) technology studying the development of human tumors as well as customized preclinical research that includes disease model generation and testing potential therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and toxicology.
The main areas of CCP activities are:
1) generation of precise animal models using genome editing to reveal gene function in the physiology of the organism and during disease development, and development of novel genome manipulation technologies,
2) standardized and comprehensive characterization/phenotyping, and development and establishment of novel phenotyping technologies,
3) preclinical research to support the development of new treatment options, including the development of new drugs, as well as the testing the treatments for infections in model organisms, 4) development and establishment of knowledge and technologies for gene and precision therapy and diagnostics.
